The Twitts - Alonyo Kilama-Oceng

Most of my childhood I spent engrossed in the eccentric and marvelous world of Roald Dahl. My favourite story however had to be The Twits.

Mr and Mrs Twit is everything that as a child I was scared of becoming. The story taught me one important lesson to always be nice to every one of you yourself will become that ugly person. Mr and Mrs Twit was a couple living in a prison looking house. The illustrations in the book by Quentin Blake are great and it plays on all imaginations. Roald Dahl books are just so descriptive which allows you to dip into the best imagination. They were awful to one another and everyone and everything else around them.

Without giving too much away to children and adults who have not read this book, the best part is when the Mr Twit continues to add wooden stumps to Mrs Twit’s walking stick. He says she has shrunk and that she needs to be stretched. You can only imagine what happens next and thereafter. Another major character in the story is the Roly Poly bird, which is magnificent and caring. After recently reading it again I laughed so hard and truly remembered the essence of reading a Roald Dahl book. Think I may have to get some of his stories as an audio book so I can listen to them on commutes. When I have children I cannot wait to share the stories with them.

Everyone must read this story or at least any story from Roald Dahl.

It’s not every day you get to relive a childhood story but enjoyed reading The Twits story again. I enjoy writing reviews and expressing my opinions something you can find on my blog : www.alonyokilamaoceng.com .
